One week from today is the rescheduled hearing for the liquor permit under consideration at Hope4Change, the operator of the former National Guard Armory (on Reading Rd @ Asmann). The original hearing back in October was postponed when the applicant did not show up.
To recap, you may recall that this site was at one time utilized as a rental hall (and is still listed as such), whereby a shooting occurred subsequent to a out-of-control party. The details of that event are somewhat cloudy, but the operator is the same. The police and our neighborhood council agree that a permit is not desirable, given priors event and the general lack of direction by the operators of this venue. It’s conceivable that whatever purpose the permit is being sought for today could easily change and become a drag on our community for years to come.
We encourage you to come and voice your concern directly to the case administrator. We need people to show up! The hearing location and time is in the subject line above.
